Rev. Cindy Harp
PRESIDENT
Cindy’s professional career has been long and varied, and includes theatre, construction, and 25 years as a technical writer for McGraw-Hill Education. Cindy has served on the board of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Mariposa branch for 8 years, the past three as Co-President. She also served 17 years previously on the Board of Trustees of Monterey CSL, and after a hiatus of 10 years agreed to rejoin the Board. Cindy believes in “servant leadership” as a model for success, and gets joy from working with a group of people dedicated to a shared mission and vision.
Alexandra Castanos
VICE PRESIDENT
Alex hails from New England and moved to the Monterey Peninsula in 1978. She joined a start-up, “The Housepaintress Co.,” the first of its kind locally. For the next 20 years, Alex painted and did landscape gardening, through which she met and married her husband of 40 years, Bob.
In the early 90’s Alex was invited to an Asilomar Conference and joined the Monterey Church the following week. During the first three years of Science of Mind classes, Alex’s life changed dramatically, becoming ALL GOD & ALL GOOD. She also sat on the Board of Trustees for most of 10 years, while helping to remodel our beautiful building.
In 2002, she and Bob retired (rewired) and began traveling while fully supporting our church community. Alex rejoined the Board in 2019 and continues to be honored, privileged, and amazed by living the Science of Mind and enjoying the gift of service to her beloved MCSL.
Irene Forsberg
SECRETARY
Irene grew up in Silicon Valley. She is a graduate of Foothill College and UCSF School of Pharmacy and did the clinical residency there. After school she pioneered a small independent pharmacy in a “health man power shortage area” on the Mendocino Coast. After the federal funding was pulled from the medical center, she moved to Encinitas to be near the Yoganada Center. She has lived in Salinas over 30 years where she is assisting her disabled sister. She has been attending CSL Monterey more than 5 years.
Georgia Demianew
TRUSTEE
Georgia has worked as a secretary for many companies, including Monterey County, HSBC credit card services, and other banking, insurance companies. Georgia began her New Thought journey with Unity Church and then moved on to the Salinas Church of Religious Science, where she did her course work and became a licensed Practitioner. Georgia saw an article about Monterey CSL about three years ago, came to check it out, and found a wonderful group of kind, loving members. She is happy to be a part of this Spiritual community. Georgia’s hobbies include gardening, pet sitting, crocheting, and reading.
Amber Guzman, RScP
TRUSTEE
Amber is a native of Oakland, CA. She is a wife, mother, Army Veteran, and a licensed Prayer Practitioner at the Center. She enjoys working in the SBA Department at a Community Bank, assisting the Tech Team and and leading crafting, sewing and art with Monterey CSL’s “Love In Action”.
